There are many places to get free furniture for those who need it, or have little to nothing. Even if you have a job and are low income you can still get free items for your home if needed. Here is a list of places I know of so far.
Beds4Kids (Free) is a privately owned charity that gives Mattress Sets to those in need, both children and adults. The thing required is a photo ID. This is a first come first serve, self-serve program. You must be able to lift, carry, load, and transport the mattresses yourself. There is also a limit of 3 mattresses per household. Only one twin mattress is allowed. The Beds4Kids program runs Monday-Friday 10AM-5PM. Be sure to connect with Beds4Kids on Facebook because beds go fast and this will keep you updated on the next shipment. Online at http://www.nice4kids.org/beds4kids.html. Cribs for Kids – The mission of the national Cribs for Kids program is to prevent sleep deaths by educating parents and caregivers on the importance of practicing safe sleep and by providing Graco Pack ‘n Play portable cribs to families who, otherwise, cannot afford a safe place for their babies to sleep. Mothers & Babies is the official South Central NY Chapter of the national Cribs for Kids program. Samaritan House (FREE) in Binghamton New York provides free household furnishings, children’s clean usable clothing, personal hygiene products, toiletries and other miscellaneous items. They also offer supportive assistance to those in need with up-to-date ID and proof of residence.
There is no large appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washers or dryers. If your in need of personal care/grooming items you can come in once a month. You can ask for furniture and other household items 1 times every 6 months.
